Green ReEntry provides transitional housing, life skills education, sustainable construction training, and job readiness for returning residents and justice-involved youth, as a holistic approach for neighborhood stabilization and violence prevention.
Green ReEntry offers safe transitional housing options for returning citizens and high-risk youth. * Single-family homes and rental units are renovated by previous Green ReEntry cohort members.
IMAN’s Green ReEntry program offers transitional housing in Chicago and Atlanta.
Each residential participant will receive assistance in creating a vision statement and developing an individual success plan. The vision statement will help to create a long-range vision for the future. The plan of service will help in choosing goals, objectives, and responsibilities for making steps towards reaching your vision. Examples of objectives and goals identified by residents may include: completing a GED, overcoming mental/emotional barriers, opening a bank account; increasing financial literacy, becoming healthier, overcoming addiction, etc. Participation in a plan of service is mandatory. Your consistent participation is crucial to you achieving your goals.
Length of stay: up to 12 months
Age Requirements: No age requirement for returning adults and 18–25 for court-involved youth (age out at 25). Applicants can apply up to 24 years and 3 months.
Services Provided:
Green ReEntry’s Education Training Program offers a paid opportunity for hands-on, vocational training with an integrative focus on personal, professional and leadership development.
Cohort members receive job placement support as well as leadership training through opportunities to engage legislators and influence policy.
Designed around IMAN’s integrated, Weekend Warriors is conducted in partnership with City Colleges’ Richard J. Daley College. Program participants are enrolled as full-time students and offered behavioral health therapy, individual case management, artistic programming, select weekend excursions, transportation support, meals, and weekly stipends.
Graduating students receive an Advanced Certification in Industrial Welding, college credits with the option of continuing a trajectory in college, career support by Daley Colleges’ Career Services department, and job placement assistance.
Additionally, participants have access to all the support programs and services offered at IMAN (health center, community events, ceramic studio classes, etc) as well as those extended to registered students by Daley College.
This includes student life and wellness resources and access to advisors.
How long is Weekend Warriors?
Weekend Warriors runs in conjunction with Daley College. Semesters range from 14-17 weeks. Participant Leaders can enroll for 1, 2, or all 3 semesters.
What are the program hours?
Weekends are 30 hours; Fri 3pm–9:15pm, Sat 8am–9pm, Sun 8am–7pm
Do I need a HS Diploma or equivalent?
Yes. Participant Leaders are enrolled in college and need a diploma or HS equivalent.
What classes are offered in WW?
Weekend Warriors provides access to classes in Industrial Manufacturing with a concentration in Industrial Welding.
