Through the Corner Store Campaign and our Fresh Market and Food & Wellness Center, IMAN has long advocated for alternatives to the traditional neighborhood corner store. This includes providing fresh produce and halal, vegan and gluten-free foods reflecting IMAN’s commitment to healing through increased healthy food access.
The Corner Store Campaign addresses the long history of injurious business practices, ingrained racial tensions, and unhealthy food options that typifies many inner-city corner stores. Since launch, the campaign has focused on four critical goals.
The IMAN Food and Wellness Center promotes health and wellness to local residents. We’ve partnered with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to bring a “client choice” food distribution 3 days a week. In addition, we provide health education, help eligible candidates access public benefits, and host opportunities to connect with fellow community members!
