Arts and Culture director wins Case Foundation Grant
Asad Jafri, IMAN's Arts and Culture Director, was recently recognized in The Chronicle of Philanthropy for "Leaders of the New School", a project to help young people in Chicago's South Side use hip-hop music, dance, and the visual arts to create and inspire social change.
The Case Foundation selected 20 projects from 5,000 applications across the country and with that selection came an award of $10,000. In the final round of this process the Case Foundation turned to the larger global audience to select the four most compelling projects from those 20 for an additional $25,000. IMAN used that opportunity to mobilize the nation, and some cases, global-wide network of supporters to cast their vote. IMAN was selected after receiving more than 5,000 votes, making it the second largest recipient of votes among all other grantees. |
